This article is about the information on Virtualization of Cyara servers.
Q. Can we use Virtual Server instead of Physical servers for Cyara?
A. Yes. We can use virtual servers for all Cyara components.
Q. Which virtual machine hypervisor does Cyara support?
A. Cyara support only VMWare Hypervisor.
Q. Why only VMWare Hypervisor supported?
A. CPU Affinity is supported only by VMWare.
Q. Is there any restriction while using virtual server?
A. The restriction is that you will have to dedicate physical CPU cores on the VM hypervisor.
Q. Can we virtualize Cyara Call Engine servers?
A. You can virtualize Cyara Call Engine server with the restriction that it has to be VMWare hypervisor, with CPU Affinity.
Cyara supports both cloud based and on premise physical server hosted virtual machines to virtualize Cyara components, however it is recommended to keep Cyara Call Engines running as a local service on on-premise architecture to avoid issues with the virtualization layer.
The following table contains the recommended hardware components and configuration should call engine be virtualized on an on-premise server.
Note: For all Cyara Components that are running on Virtualized server architecture, we require both 1 socket with dedicated CPU as well as Hard Disk Thick Provisioning be available.
CPU Reservation | CPU Limit | CPU Shares High | Memory Shares High | Dedicated NIC | |
Call Engine <= 100 Ports |
Unlimited | Recommended | Recommended | Recommended | Recommended |
Call Engine >100 Ports |
Unlimited | Mandatory | Mandatory | Mandatory | Mandatory |
All Other Servers | Unlimited |
Note: Single socket with multiple cores is a preferred CPU type compared to multiple sockets.
e.g To make up 4 vCPUs, 1 socket with 4 cores is preferred over 2 sockets with 2 cores each.
