Starting October 5, 2022, the Cyara Call Explorer application will be migrated by the Cyara vendor to a different network region that will require updates/changes to the firewall rules at the high-security networks. If you're using Cyara from a network that allows voice communication only to certain approved destinations, you will have to contact your network/security administrator to update the rules as described below.
Why is this happening?
Cyara Call Explorer uses Twilio as a carrier. Twilio as the Cyara vendor updates its network to migrate users to the new Umatilla Oregon region. Umatilla Oregon gives you better call quality and lower latency for your calls in western North American regions; additionally, this new public edge location gives you additional failover options in the event of network outages.
What do you need to do?
In case, if there are no restrictions on the network used to communicate with the Cyara Call Explorer, changes will be seamless. However, if a network security policy allows voice/media traffic to only certain, approved destinations, you may need to take the following actions:
- You’ll need to open a firewall to allow traffic from the Umatilla media ranges as follows:

Timelines
On September 21, 2022, we’ll activate GLL for an hour between 10 and 11 AM PST for you to test your media IP firewall block list changes. If you have issues during this time, you can contact Twilio Customer Support.
On October 5, 2022, all customers will be automatically opted into Umatilla Global Low Latency (GLL, or “roaming”).
What happens if you don’t take action?
If you maintain media IP firewall block lists and firewalls aren’t opened to allow traffic from Umatilla media ranges before the September 21, 2022, testing window, calls via Cyara Call Explorer will fail.
