Managing Existing Data Rules

Previously created data rules may be edited, deleted, or duplicated from the list of existing Data Rules.

From the main menu on the Cyara Portal, select the Build sidebar menu item and then click Data Rules underneath the Cyara Virtual Agent heading. The Data Rules screen will be displayed, listing all the existing Behaviors.

Searching for a Data Rule

You can search for any existing rules (Classification or Validation Rules) for those that match a user-specified string.

  1. Enter the search string in the Search text box.
  2. Click the Search button. Data rules whose names match the search string will be displayed.
  3. Click the Reset button to display the original list of data rules. Alternatively, you can navigate through the folder structure on the left-hand side of the screen.

Editing a Data Rule

  1. To edit a data rule, click on the Data Rule's Name, which appears as a link in the grid. The Edit Data Rule screen will be displayed as below:
  2. This screen is similar to the Create Classification Rule or Create Validation Rule screens. Make the required changes, referring to the Creating New Data Rules page for field descriptions.
    Note: When editing classification rules, ensure referential integrity checks to Behaviors and validation rules to avoid leaving hanging references.
  3. Click the Save Details button to save any modifications.

Duplicating a Data Rule

  1. To duplicate a data rule, click on the Data Rule's Name, which appears as a link in the grid. The Edit Data Rule screen will be displayed as below:
  2. Click the Duplicate Classification Rule button in the top right-hand corner of the Edit Data Rule screen.
    If you chose to edit a Validation Rule, then the corresponding Validation Rule screen will appear here.
  3. This will create a duplicate of the data rule in the same folder, and then display the duplicate for editing.

Deleting Data Rules

  1. To delete a Data Rule, hover on the rule you want to delete and then click the red trash can icon on the right-hand side of the data rule. A pop-up message is displayed requesting confirmation of your selection.

    You can also delete a data rule by selecting the checkbox for the rule(s) and then clicking the Actions button and selecting Delete. This helps you to delete multiple rules at the same time.
  2. If you have confirmed that the selection is correct and you want to proceed with the deletion, click the Delete button. Otherwise, click Cancel.

    • Inspect the warning message carefully, if a Validation Rule or Behavior you want to keep is affected – go to the object and re-assign it to a different Classification Rule.

    • After you have deleted a rule, inspect the Behaviors mentioned in the warning message to ensure the expected test flow is maintained.
  3. To delete multiple data rules, select the rules you want to delete, click the Actions button, and select Delete.
  4. To delete “all” rules displayed on the screen, use the Select All button, then click the Actions button and select Delete.
  5. To select the visible data rules on the page, use the Select Visible button. To clear selections, use the Clear Selection button.

Moving Data Rules

Data rules can be moved to other folders in the folder structure.

  1. To select the data rules, click the Select Visible button or click inside the checkbox. To select all data rules displayed on the screen, click the Select All button from the data rules page.
  2. To move the selected data rules, select Actions and then click the Move button.
  3. On the Select Folder pop-up menu, select the destination folder and click Choose. All the selected data rules will be moved to the destination folder.

Copying Data Rules

Data rules can be copied to the destination folder.

  1. To copy Data rules, select the Data rule/s that you wish to copy.
  2. Select Actions and then click the Copy button.
  3. On the Select Folder pop-up menu, select the destination folder and click Choose. All the selected data rules will be copied to the destination folder.
