Creating Ticker Messages

Only a user with an Dashboard Admin and Administrator role can access the Ticker administration page.

Red = unresolved; Green = resolved; Blue = informational

The Ticker administration page allows push notifications to mobile devices and to the Dashboard page for outage and informational messages. This Ticker is only shown on the Dashboard if the configuration parameter tickerEnabled is set to True.

A Ticker/Banner can be used to post information messages or Outages.

For Outages, an additional incident number and its current status is displayed.

Red = unresolved; Green = resolved

To create Ticker Messages, perform the following steps:

Log in to the Cyara Portal as a Platform Administrator user with the Dashboard role.
Select Execute > Pulse Config. Select the Global Configuration option from the drop-down list at the top right corner of the page to open the Dashboard Configuration page.
Select the Ticker option from the Dashboards drop-down list. A screen as shown below appears:
Click Create Outage to create a new Outage message:
Create New Outage Alert:
- Enter the Incident Number (as per company format).
- Specify the Expires timeframe from the drop-down list. This is set to Never by default.
- Enter the Ticker Message.
- Enter a Management Notification message if required. This is only used for the Push notification service.
- Click the Create button to create this new message.
Note: At minimum, a Ticker message or Management Notification is required. The message supplied in the Management Notification section will be broadcast with a push notification to registered devices.
Click the Create Information button to create a new information alert:
Create New Information Alert:
- Enter the Change Number (as per company format).
- Specify the Expires timeframe from the drop-down list.
- Enter the Ticker Message.
- Enter a Management Notification message if required.
- Click the Create button to create this new message.
Note: At minimum, a Ticker message or Management Notification is required.

When you create a new outage or information message, you can choose the length of time the message is valid for as well as the target destination, which will be one or both of the Dashboard or a push notification (via Pushover.net). When a message is first created, it is in a hidden state.

To push this message alert out, it needs to have its visibility set to Show.
You can set up a notification service to alert individuals or groups about the error results displayed on the Dashboard. To do this, enter the Push Notification Group Key. The Push Notification Group Key is the API key provided by Pushover for push notifications on the Ticker.
Enter the Push Notification Url. The Push Notification Url is the URL used by those who want to sign up to push notifications.
After you have entered all the necessary details, click Save Parameters to save your changes.

Resolving Outage Messages in Pulse Dashboards

To show the outage message has been resolved in the Dashboard, follow the steps below;

Click the word 'resolve' within the outage message.
Update the Ticker Message (and Management Notifications) as appropriate:
Click Resolve to confirm.
The Dashboard ticker will scroll the resolved outage message with the current timestamp.
The outage/incident number will also be displayed above the ticker/banner (the background will be in green) as shown:
