The Load Test Booking Calendar enables Cyara Users to schedule their own performance tests, both inbound and outbound, rather than make booking requests with the Cyara Support team. Inbound bookings are automatically approved if there are no conflicts of time and ports slot. Outbound bookings are reviewed by Cyara Support and a booking confirmation is sent over email.
To access the Load Test Booking Calendar, go to
. Scroll the calendar to the date for which you wish to schedule a load test. The time designations on the left reflect the local time zone as known to your browser. Place the cursor at the desired starting time of the Load Test. Left-click and scroll down to highlight the full time duration of the load test you want to run.You need to provide the following information to complete the booking process:
-
Booking Name – Enter any name you want to give your load test. It does not need to match the Campaign(s) you intend to execute.
- Test Type* - The test type you wish to book. The options are: Inbound, Inbound & Agent, Outbound, and Inbound-Outbound.
- Channels* – The calendar is used to schedule both Cruncher Voice and Cruncher Web tests. Select the media that is appropriate for your test. The options are enabled based on the plans active on your Account.
-
From Date – This date will reflect the date selected when you dragged your cursor to designate the time slot. You can change the date to any date in the future by clicking the box and selecting a different date.
-
From Time - This is the starting time for the load test. Clicking the down arrow will present a list of times you can select. The starting and ending times are absolute. Remember, the bookings are displayed in the same time zone as the logged in user.
Note: You can also type in a specific time slot, by clicking into the time field and entering a value manually, allowing a start time such as 15:02. Ensure you enter a time in 24-hour time. -
To Date – The second date window reflects the ending date for the load test. Click the box to open a calendar and select the ending date. You can also have load tests that cross date boundaries.
-
To Time - The second time window reflects the ending time for the load test. You can click the window to choose a suggested ending time or enter a time you desire. Remember the time reflects a 24-hour clock.
If you are booking a Voice test
You need to enter the following additional details:
-
Ports – For inbound ports, the Cyara Portal displays how many Cruncher and Cruncher Lite ports have been provisioned for your Account. The number to the right of the slash reflects the total pool of Cruncher ports available in your Account. Type in the number of ports you want to use as part of this load test. The 20% split of Cruncher and Cruncher Lite ports will be shown once the booking is confirmed at which point you can update the booking if necessary.
Note: The number of ports you want to use will be divided across the Cruncher and Cruncher Lite ports. 20% of the requested ports will be Cruncher. The balance will be Cruncher Lite. If you want the test to use all Cruncher ports and you have enough Cruncher ports to meet that number, you must supply a Ports number that is calculated as<desired number of Cruncher Full ports> / <.20>
. You will see Cruncher Lite ports being reserved but there is no requirement to run a Cruncher Lite Campaign. The Cruncher Lite ports will just be idle while the desired Cruncher Campaign is executed. For outbound ports, the Cyara Portal displays how many Cruncher ports have been provisioned for your Account. The number to the right of the slash reflects the total pool of Cruncher ports available in your Account.
-
CAPS – The Call Attempts Per Second number needs to be the same or greater than the sum total of all the Campaigns you intend to execute. If, for example, you are running 1 Cruncher Full and 3 Cruncher Lite Campaigns, you will need to add the 4 CAPS numbers together to know the maximum CAPS rate for the booking. If you enter a number smaller than the total, you will have Campaigns fail to start.
-
Mode – The available options are PSTN and Cloud Connect. Select PSTN for dialing out through a carrier to land calls on a toll-free or DID number. Select Cloud Connect for direct IP connections.
-
Numbers to Dial – Enter the numbers that must be dialed for inbound testing. Cyara will look through the supplied numbers to make sure all of the needed carrier connections are in place to support the number to be dialed so if you are placing international calls, it is advised to include the numbers in this field.
Click Confirm Booking. After you confirm an outbound booking, Cyara Support will review the booking and confim the booking if testing capacity is available to support the requested time slot and port count. You will receive an email with the confirmation or decline. For inbound bookings, the Portal sends a booking confirmation email to the address associated with your login credentials. If the booking entry turns green, the booking is confirmed. If the booking stays white, Cyara Support will review the booking to make sure there is testing capacity to support the requested time slot and port count.
If you are booking a Web test
You need to enter the following additional details:
-
Sessions – This is the number of concurrent web browsers that will be activated for the test. The number shown to the right of the slash reflects the total number of web automation sessions provisioned for the Account. Type in the number of sessions you want to use as part of this load test. The split of Full & Lite sessions will be displayed once the booking is confirmed at which point you can update the booking if necessary. The note above about how to manipulate the number of Cruncher Full ports applies to Web Automation Full sessions.
-
APS – Actions per Second reflects how quickly the web automation commands are to be sent to the web server. This measure is the web equivalent of a CAPS rate but tied to browser actions. The number to the right of the slash reflect the maximum number allowed per the Account provisioning.
-
Mode – This drop-down has 2 choices: Internet or Cloud Connect. Internet connectivity assumes public facing URLs that have been included in the white list of reachable URLs as part of the provisioning process. Failure to white list a URL is a common reason for web automation tests to fail.
-
Web Destination – This is a list of the URLs that the test will be accessing. Adding names to this list does not update the existing white list that is a part of the Account’s provisioning. It is a good reminder to make sure any URL included in the list is also white listed.
After you provide the necessary details, click Confirm Booking or Update Booking to send the booking request for approval. If the booking is auto-approved, the calendar entry will immediately turn green. If it stays white, look for an email when the approval or decline is determined.
Using the See Availability tool to check booking availability
In the top right corner of the Cyara Load Test Booking Calendar, a button is your guide to checking booking availability.
This button is enabled based on the inbound plans active on your Account.
Click this button to open the See Availability check. Enter the Test Type and Channel that you wish to make a booking for and the form will automatically populate Ports for a Voice channel booking, or Sessions for a Web booking.
The limits on Ports or Sessions are determined by your Cyara Account Subscription. Click Confirm once you have entered the number of Ports or Sessions that you require for your booking and the Load Test Booking Calendar will populate with sessions that are unavailable.
Automatic Approval of Inbound Load Tests
The Cyara Load Test Booking Calendar will automatically grant approval for inbound Load Tests if they meet a series of criteria. The most important being a pre-configured Ports/CAPS or Sessions/APS setting as well as the number of total available ports across all other bookings at that time. These settings are unique to each Cyara Account based on your Cyara subscription. We recommend using the See Availability check to find booking times that Cyara can accommodate. See below for more information on the specific criteria for each load test booking approach.
1. For load test bookings that are using more than 10 Cruncher and Cruncher Lite ports, which are also below the maximum number of ports required for automatic approval, the Confirm Booking button turns blue colour and can be clicked. Once this booking has been confirmed it is approved automatically.
2. For a load test booking that is above the maximum allowed number of ports for automatic approval, a warning message will appear as follows.
In this example, the number of Ports selected is less than the Account Maximum of 1000. However, this is greater than the amount allowed for automatic approval. This booking can still be submitted but will be subject to Manual Approval by Cyara.
3. For bookings that are attempting to use more than the Account Maximum number of ports, the Confirm Booking button is disabled. The field that is in error will also be highlighted in red as shown.
4. Finally, for bookings that are using less than 10 combined ports of Cruncher and Cruncher lite (max 5 of each) Campaigns do not require a booking via the Load Test Calendar in order to run. However, these bookings are still allowed to be made via the Load Test Calendar. A notification message as follows will appear to let you know that these small load tests do not require a booking.

Booking an Inbound and Agent Load Test
The Cyara Load Test Calendar also supports Inbound & Agent Load Test Bookings. To book an Inbound Load Test which will engage Cyara Virtual Agents in your contact centre solution, change the Test Type to Inbound & Agent as shown below.
Inbound & Agent Load Test Fields
-
No of Agents - The number of Cyara Virtual Agents to initialise for this Load Test.
-
Environment Type - Select from configured Cloud hosted and Legacy Environments from your Cyara Account. A legacy Environment in this context is an environment that is not hosted in the cloud.
-
If you select a legacy non-cloud based Environment, such as the Genesys Engage platform, you will also be required to enter the number of Endpoints that Cyara will connect to).
-
-
Sites - Select which configured Sites should be connected to.
-
Booking Notes - As with all Cyara Load Test Calendar Bookings, the bookings notes field is where you can enter any specific information that will be sent to the Cyara Support Team regarding your Load Test Booking request.
Booking Non-Inbound Voice Cruncher Ports
Generating volumes of calls or generating volumes of browser-based interactions are the two forms of Cruncher directly supported by the Load Test Booking Calendar.
What if you need to schedule Endpoints and Virtual agents to accompany the Cruncher Inbound ports?
Currently, the Booking Calendar does not have support SMS, Endpoint or Virtual Agent resources. Though there is commonly a need to have these resources either accompanying a load test or as the primary driver of a load test.
To use the Booking Calendar to schedule these three types of resources, you need to include the quantity and type of resource in the name you gave your booking event. The Enter a Description field is where you would add a description such as “200 unique SMS numbers.” If you run out of space, use the “Numbers to Dial” or “Web Destinations” fields to enter descriptive information.
Keep in mind that Endpoints are not Outbound ports. Endpoints require registration of the port to a specific DN on an SBC or SIP Server. If you need Endpoints as part of your load test, and possibly Virtual Agents, it is recommended that you send the Cyara Support Team the specific details of the load test configuration once you have the entry in the Booking Calendar. Reference the booking in your email and Cyara Support will connect your testing details to the booking.
